Kangji is a leading medical device company in China, mainly engaged in research, development, manufacturing and commercialization of laparoscopic surgical instruments.
Their new R&D Headquarters in Hangzhou will bolster the image of the company. We want the new tower to express a unique idea that is purely Kangji, resonating with those surgical instruments and proudly expressing what's distinctive of Kangji.

The focal point is at the tower’s base: a 45 meter-high canopy that creates a dramatic entrance experience at the two main sides of the tower. The canopy shelters a 270m2 outdoor space that invites the visitors to explore the inside of the tower.
From the 45 meters above, the four corners seem to open up in a gesture that in one hand helps us to optimize the tower structural performance -by mitigating the wind loads- while in the other enhances the proportions of the tower and helps to give the whole complex a sense of harmony and unity.
At the top, the vanity height, extends 20 meters higher than the rooftop. The four main facades, unlinked after chamfering the corners, are folded while building a shelter above the roof garden.
